Here you will find all the information that is going on in our classroom. I will update it week by week so that you can keep up with what your children will be doing and learning in class each week.
September 6-9 = we will be focusing on addition and learning about the four seasons
September 12-16= we will be getting into graphing, learning new vocabulary words that go along with the unit, talking about the characteristics of day and night and why the sun and moon are important.
September 19-23= we will be reviewing addition and learning about subtraction in math. We will also begin talking about apples- the life cycle of apples and what they need to grow. We will also get to taste test some :)
September 26-30= we will continue to learn about addition and subtraction but get into money in the middle of the week. Johnny Appleseed's birthday is on Monday so we will be making applesauce!
October 3-7= we will be counting like coins and working on recognizing coins and their value. We will talk about what the past, present, future means and some examples of each.
October 10-13= this is somewhat of a short week for us! Thursday is a half day (due to parent/teacher conferences in the afternoon/evening) and there is no school for the students on Friday. We will continue to discuss money in math but it is also time for the students to take their math Benchmark test! This test will cover topics in math that we have learned so far this year. October 10th is Christopher Columbus's birthday so we will be talking about him this week in Social Studies and the contributions he made in North America.
October 17-21= we will be finishing up our math Benchmark this week in math but also begin talking about place value. Every week we are adding new sight words into our vocabulary and learning how to read them, so continue practicing at home :) In science we will be talking about weather and the seasons- especially the season fall!
